ANBI
Our Awaken to Love non-profit foundation is proud to be in the process of applying for ANBI recognition, to be included in the Netherlands’ non-profit foundation registry. It is quite similar to the Spanish foundation registry that we have been included in for some years. The Spanish Foundation Registry number for Fundación Despierta Al Amor is 2636, and our Spanish Tax Number, or CIF, is G67952416.
POLICY PLAN
Mission:
The Foundation’s main objective is to help people gain self-knowledge, thereby improving their quality of life, their mental health, and also the well-being of society.
Activities:
The Awaken to Love Foundation (Fundación Despierta Al Amor) has two ways that it puts its mission into practice:
-Community Service Stays
We offer participants the opportunity to come and stay with our community for short, medium, and long-term stays. As a result, they can cleanse and clear their minds and emotions. They are able to do this by serving one another and the larger community in daily tasks and building inner awareness of their state of mind. The purpose of these practices is to restore peace of mind.
-Publication and Dissemination of Educational Materials
Writing and sharing educational materials, such as books. Compiling and publishing videos online.
The funding for all activities of our foundation comes through donations, approximately 85% going to support the community service stays, and approximately 15% going to support the creation and extension of our educational materials.
In 2025, the foundation purchased and opened a second retreat center in Cape Town, South Africa, and has held its opening retreat there.
Management:
The foundation’s board is very hands-on, overseeing the upkeep and maintenance of the community stay centres, and overseeing the participants on a daily basis.
There is a collaboration between the overseers and the ongoing participants, enabling a steady, supportive practice of returning to peace of mind, which is a help to them and to all.
The board of the foundation has regular meetings to discuss new developments, and to come up with ways to continue to share the helpful tools we are creating, to everyone who is interested in what we are doing.
Donations:
The foundation receives donations from participants in its ongoing programs, including helpful online events, in-person retreats, and short, medium, and long-term community stay experiences. 100% of our donations go to implementing and practicing the foundation’s purpose.
Managing Funds:
As the Foundation is now running two retreat centres, being mindful of costs is an integral part of our mindset on spending. Providing room and board for our volunteers and participants is the main source of our spending. Maintaining and organising repairs for the buildings and the land is also a focus for us, and where a large amount of our reserves have gone so far.
The 90% spending goal is clearly achieved and surpassed, since we use all (100%) of the donations we receive to fulfil the foundation’s purposes.
Our board members/directors receive no payment for fulfilling their roles.
If at any point in the future, the foundation would be dissolved, no founder or board member of the foundation would be permitted to receive any of its assets. All assets of the foundation would go to another foundation with a similar mission; this is clearly stated in the foundation’s bylaws, and is required by the Spanish law that governs all foundations.
